When three eccentric, aging wizards pull him into a world of legendary creatures, ancient relics, and an impending invasion (no pressure), Wilder’s only ally is his grumpy dog, Bocephus—who, by the way, is secretly a centuries-old dragon in disguise.
A fast-paced, snarky, and magical adventure.
"The Longest Summer" takes readers on an emotional and suspenseful journey alongside Max, a man who awakens to a chilling reality where everyone has mysteriously vanished overnight. In this haunting world, Max is determined to find his missing wife, Hannah, and unravel the enigma of humanity's sudden disappearance.
This is a wonderful story of relationships and true love that is limitless, and the innate search for connection. From the beginning the author takes you on a quest of the familiar and testing the boundaries of the unknown. His journey makes you laugh (and cry) with joy for the adventures and the internal dialog that reads like an amazing voyage into the brain. It will remind you to go down that untraveled road, and create as many memories and connections as possible!! Great summer read !!
A satisfying read! Loved the descriptions of Maine spots - perfect for any New England lover to enjoy. It's fun to imagine yourself in the narrator's shoes living in a world of your own creation! A great bedtime read.
A fluid and entertaining story that is easy to read, filled with humor and emotion that left me on the edge of my seat right to the end.
I loved the storyline and I loved that it was written by a local Maine author so when the main character is talking about local places it is genuine. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I'll be looking forward to more from Jon Shannon in the future.
I read this book at one sitting! The author’s description of the world around him drew me in almost immediately! His sweet style of humor found me smiling and many times thinking, “I thought I was the only one who thought that.” He walks us through the characters emotions - fear, confusion, and love, to name a few, with such truth. I thoroughly enjoyed this summer day of my own, deep in a beautiful book.
4.5*. I loved this book. It's about a man who goes through his day to day life over the course of the summer, however, all the people and animals have disappeared. As he waits patiently for his wife to return, he tries to piece together the quirky things that have happened to figure out where everyone has gone. It grabbed me from the first page and I didn't want to put it down. The author has my kind of humor and feelings on some things. Who knew day to day life could be so captivating?
Jon is participating in many local book signings and author events.
